Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Vice President of Transformation is the owner and leader of high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that drive measurable value creation, maximize investment returns, and accelerate transformation across the enterprise.
This role serves as a chief operating partner within Avanos’s AIP-led value creation agenda — personally driving key workstreams while holding the broader operating agenda accountable for delivery. Success requires the ability to lead with influence rather than authority, translate strategy into tactical execution with financial rigor, and operate credibly from the boardroom to the shop floor.
The Vice President of Transformation is expected to drive not only business transformation, but cultural transformation — leaving the organization measurably stronger, more accountable, and better equipped to sustain a culture of winning long after this individual’s tenure. This role requires up to 50% travel – Domestic and International.
This hybrid role will be based in Alpharetta and requires a minimum of 3 days/week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Agenda Leadership & Value Creation
- Own and drive refinement and execution of the operating agenda, AIP’s core value creation methodology, across the enterprise.
- Leverage analysis, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration to remove barriers and maintain momentum.
- Establish rigorous milestone tracking and operating cadence to ensure delivery and adaptability.
- Drive transparency at all levels of the organization — surfacing progress, risks, and trade-offs early and clearly.
- Proactively confront challenges; communicate both positive and negative developments with urgency and clarity, always paired with an action plan.
Execution Accountability & Stakeholder Management
- Support execution and drive accountability across the entire operating agenda, while personally leading key workstreams.
- Assess execution on a daily/weekly basis; measure and report on progress, and evaluate people and teams on the likelihood of successful outcomes.
- Operate with strong organizational savvy — influence stakeholders and leaders through servant leadership and by building trust.
- Manage upward in partnership with the CEO and AIP, ensuring stakeholders have the information needed to make sound decisions.
- Communicate good and bad news with equal speed; ensure no issue lingers without a plan and clear ownership.
- For workstreams requiring force multiplication, engage directly with the workstream owner to drive to completion, or retain the right third parties to move the work forward.
Business & Cultural Transformation
- Drive both business transformation and cultural transformation, leaving the organization measurably better in the long run.
- Help instill a culture of winning by identifying and addressing root causes of underperformance.
- Partner with the CEO, CFO, and broader Senior Leadership Team to address performance issues and determine the path forward.
- Model and reinforce accountability, urgency, and ownership across all levels of the organization.
- Champion and reinforce a culture of quality and regulatory compliance, respecting the deep industry knowledge and quality-first mindset of the existing workforce while introducing disciplined execution and fresh perspective.
Your qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of total professional experience, with 5+ years specifically leading enterprise-wide transformation, turnaround, or value-creation initiatives, ideally within a private-equity-backed or highly matrixed environment.
- Strong financial acumen and systems awareness; demonstrated ability to translate strategy into tactical execution and connect it to P&L impact.
- Proven ability to drive extraordinary results through influence rather than formal authority, earning the credibility and respect of senior stakeholders quickly.
- Executive presence with the gravitas to operate in the boardroom, paired with the willingness to spend time on the shop floor and in the details.
- Exceptional facilitation, communication, and program/project management skills; comfortable driving rigorous milestone tracking and operating cadences.
- High EQ, relentless persistence, and an insatiable curiosity about people, businesses, and how things work.
Preferred:
- Prior experience with AIP or another private equity sponsor’s operating agenda, 100-day plan, or value-creation playbook.
- Background in medical device, healthcare, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience partnering with a CEO, CFO, and Senior Leadership Team on enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Experience operating in an organization undergoing ownership change (e.g., take-private, M&A integration).
Core Competencies
- Persistent, yet Personable
- Insatiably Curious
- Nose for Value / Financial Acumen
- Inspires Extraordinary Results
- Exceptional in Both the Board Room and Shop Floor
- Quality Culture Champion and Culture Carrier
