The Role

 

Overview

As a Senior Software Test Engineer in our R&D Medical Device New Product Development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of cutting-edge medical device software. You will leverage your expertise in embedded systems testing, test automation, and regulatory compliance to help bring innovative medical technologies to market.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the program leader, external partners, cross-functional teams, and sub teams to participate in the creation of innovative medical device products.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive software test plans, protocols, and reports to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks to improve software validation efficiency.
  • Plan software test resources (internal or external) and provide schedule estimates.
  • Translate customer and marketing, product and software requirements into tests which can be successfully verified, validated, and launched.
  • Present at design reviews; documents and resolves issues as directed.
  • Mentor less senior team members and peer review software artifacts including requirement specifications, risk analyses, etc. for testability and traceability.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with partners in the Quality and Operations organizations to work to ensure smooth and timely product introductions.

 

Your qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or similar field.
  • 7+ years of experience in device software testing.
  • Strong technical understanding of how to test embedded software, firmware, and hardware interactions, including RTOS (Real Time Operating System).
  • Experience with automated testing of embedded systems software.
  • Flexibility to work both in a stage gate/ waterfall and an Agile development model environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Passion for new product development, willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 5-10% at times, some international.

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or similar field.
  • Direct Medical Device experience including working knowledge and application of IEC 62304, FDA Software Guidance, ISO 60601, ISO 13485 development processes and standards (or similar).
  • Experience with automated testing of QT using tools such as Squish and Cucumber.
  • Hands on experience with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG and hardware debugging platforms.
  • Familiarity of requirement management tools such as JAMA, and agile development tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.

 

 

Salary Range:

The anticipated average base pay range for this position is $86,657 - $144,503.  In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the base posted.
