Job Position Purpose / Summary

Overall Purpose of Job:

This position supports the ANZ Pain Management & Recovery Business (ANZ), the ideal candidate will utilize personal skills, technical expertise and product functional & technical knowledge to assist the ANZ-PM&R Sales Team in building and maintaining relationships with key clinical staff to support sales growth for PM&R Division of Avanos Medical. Responsible for presenting Pain Management and Recovery products to health care workers in health care settings, assisting Avanos at professional trade shows & cadaveric workshops as well as developing Interventional Pain Management and related   therapies. In addition, this person will be expected to develop and maintain knowledge of competitive therapies, in spine, knee, hip and shoulder pathologies and newly approved Avanos modalities and technology, including Game Ready - Cold and Compression Therapy.

Job Position Accountabilities / Expectations

Responsibility Area One: Clinical Cases, Conferences, and Workshops

  • The Clinical Support Specialist across ANZ will be asked to provide support to physicians, operating theatre staff, and supporting health care professionals in; the preparation for Avanos PM&R clinical procedures, during Avanos PM&R clinical procedures in operating theatres, clinics or surgical centres and this will entail daily in field case support. Support can include transporting Avanos capital hardware and consumables to and from Avanos customers, includes ensuring Avanos equipment is set up properly, includes ensuring all Avanos equipment is operated within indication and correctly, includes troubleshooting where required, includes training all relevant staff members in the proper set up and utilisation of any Avanos equipment and includes verbal procedural support for physicians.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist role requires an intimate knowledge in the proper utilisation of all Avanos Pain Management procedures and equipment which they will be supporting. This role will require considerable flexibility in work start times and work finish time (it should not be viewed as a 9 to 5 role) and this includes weekend work, with ‘time in lieu’ being applicable. It should be noted work life balance needs to be self-managed as this role includes considerable periods of downtime in the working week.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist role will entail the carriage and supply of loan Avanos Pain Management Generator Hardware from Store facility or Hospital site to Hospital site, individual components will not exceed 34 x 43 x 33cm in size / 10.7 kg in weight when required and with appropriate transport cart/s provided.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist role will entail the carriage and supply to Hospitals of Coolief® case kits which will not exceed 46 x 15 x 11cm in size / 0.640 kg in weight each when required. The Clinical Support Specialist role will require organising respective clinical site biomedical engineering testing of Avanos Pain Management Generator Hardware when required.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist role will require the individual to manage their own diary/day and liaising with appropriate stakeholder/s to case bookings they have been allocated to ensure the most efficient use of their time. Daily updates of activities undertaken in SFDC is a requirement of this role.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist role will include administrative functions including proforma management and case booking allocation.
  • Continuous self-education by way of RF workshops and studying the most up to date literature on the subject is expected.
  • There are regular Med-device conferences where physicians come for training and education to ensure they are up to date on the procedures and equipment available to them. At these shows the Clinical Support Specialist is expected to provide information and answer any questions
  • pertaining to Avanos equipment while also generating interest and stimulating leads for our sales team.

 How will success be measured:

  • Professionally support a certain number of Clinical cases per month (>30 per month)
  • Attend a certain number of conferences per year (>3)
  • Number of newly trained physicians / doctors / operating theatre staff, and supporting health care professionals (>10 per year)

Responsibility Area Two: Product & Clinical Knowledge and Training

  • The Clinical Support Specialist is expected to work with newly hired Avanos PM&R employees and help upskill on all of the Avanos PM&R products, modalities and related / relevant anatomy.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist is expected to be abreast of all relevant / related Clinical Evidence / Data relating Radio Frequency Ablation.
  • Regular updating and refreshing of any training materials which are part of the Avanos PM&R Range.
  • The Clinical Support Specialist will be expected to administer the proforma billing process for the PM&R Team, this includes requesting proformas for cases attended.
  • Complete internal training to gain certification to proctor clinicians and other medical personnel Become an expert on the Avanos Pain management system and related / relevant anatomy

  • Active participation in all internal and external PM&R Clinical discussions
  • Number of newly trained employees / distributor partners (as required)
  • Updated materials (as required)

Responsibility Area Three: New Product Launches & Collateral Development

  • Delivering training presentations and answering any questions which arise. This requires gathering insight from physicians and KOL’s on their needs and gaps in the technology available.

 

How will success be measured:

  • Input provided to the Pain National Sales Manager - ANZ for the development country plan. Provision of clinical insights and materials needed to meet plan targets.

Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skill Required

Required Qualifications:

  • Imperative candidate demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrates experience / effective handling managing ‘high demand’ personalities.
  • Imperative candidate demonstrates skill in grasping highly technical concepts and ability to impart these learnings to a wide audience from lay to highly credentialed HCPs/KOLs.
  • Position requires >50% travel, within state, interstate and occasional international
  • Demonstrates clear ability to take on ongoing self-paced and self-driven personal clinical education. Evidence of prior continued personal and professional growth & development.
  • Ability to work in a highly fluid and dynamic environment and ability to adapt and proactively respond appropriately to constant change.
  • Demonstrated resilience to constant and often short notice variations to the work day. Flexibility on working hours, additional hours outside of the ordinary business hours are often needed for this role. The work schedule is highly fluid and depends on Avanos client hospital’s case schedule which requires flexibility. ~50% of cases are scheduled in hours that are outside of the ordinary business hours.
  • Solid knowledge of PC based applications (Salesforce, Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. There are regular administrative aspects to this role.
  • Full and current Australian Drivers Licence
  • This role will be Melbourne/NSW/QLD based.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior ~3yrs experience or exposure to Pain Management or other Medical Devices.
  • Previous sales experience (in any industry) / med-device support experience is ideal but not required.
