Job Description

Provide end-to-end leadership of the plant maintenance function, ensuring the effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies through the coordination of engineers and technical personnel, driving operational continuity, EHS compliance, product quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate and ensure the execution of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance processes for machinery, process equipment, and plant infrastructure, guaranteeing operational availability and reliability.
  • Provide full leadership to the maintenance areas (Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities, and Preventive Maintenance) through direct management of engineers and technical staff, ensuring proper execution of activities and compliance with established standards.
  • Ensure the analysis and follow-up of key maintenance KPIs (downtime, work orders, recurring failures), leveraging systems such as SAP to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Execute and monitor strategies aimed at maximizing operational efficiency of manufacturing equipment and building infrastructure, aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish, communicate, and follow up on performance and EHS objectives for the team, ensuring they are clear, measurable, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with the Procurement team to ensure timely supply of spare parts, materials, and services required to maintain operational continuity.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of critical areas such as cleanrooms (ISO 8), as well as infrastructure systems (HVAC, air compressors, fire protection systems, electrical installations, among others).
  • Oversee maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including packaging systems (Multivac, Autobagger, Emplex, Alloyd, Band Sealers), printing systems (pad printers, laser, Domino), and process technologies (PLC, ultrasonic sealing, radio frequency, semi-automatic machinery).
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) focused on process optimization, downtime reduction, and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements by actively participating in risk identification, implementation of preventive actions, and fostering a zero-incident culture.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors and external service providers, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Participate in and support internal and external audits, inspections, and safety walks, ensuring information availability and shop floor compliance.
  • Ensure proper implementation and follow-up of actions derived from safety programs (e.g., yellow cards), as well as availability of resources for the EHS system.
  • Ensure execution of facility maintenance activities, including technical cleaning and sanitization of critical areas such as cleanrooms.
  • Ensure that personnel under supervision complete required training per the training matrix prior to performing their activities.
  • Ensure that all processes under responsibility are properly documented and comply with applicable quality standards and regulations, including: ISO 13485, GMP, 21 CFR (820/210/211/11), MDD 93/42/EEC, Canadian Medical Device Regulations, ANVISA (Brazil), Therapeutic Goods (Australia), MHLW (Japan), and COFEPRIS NOM-241 (Mexico). 
  • Comply with and enforce the corporate EHS policy, ensuring alignment with global organizational standards.

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineers and technical teams

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong knowledge of equipment and machinery maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and automation
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements in a manufacturing plant (e.g., quality and EHS standards) 
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)
