JOB POSITION PURPOSE

 

This role provides project leadership and supply chain support within the Operations Engineering team.  The incumbent will provide engineering leadership and support for a wide array of strategic engineering projects and initiatives in support of our manufacturing facilities.  This individual is recognized as having strong project management skills, technical thinking and troubleshooting skills, a vision for improving our manufacturing processes and equipment, and ability to translate that vision into executable projects.  This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities and risks with our current equipment and translating these in to long term capital equipment plans for future capital investment that they can scope and lead.   In addition, this role will be responsible for developing specifications on new equipment and machines to ensure they meet requirements in addition to driving better standardization across the company.  The role reports to the Operations Engineering Team Associate Director and receives direction in the form of broad project and initiative objectives.

 

 

Job Position Accountabilities / Expectations

 

  • Develop long term plans for capital equipment investment
  • Develop equipment specifications on new equipment.
  • Scoping and leading capital projects
  • Provides leadership and collaboration within a cross functional team during the scoping and execution of projects.
  • Manages the operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects.
  • Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects.
  • Effectively achieves results that meet business and individual objectives.
  • Establishes standards for processes and equipment.
  • Benchmarking current processes and equipment to determine overall OEE, bottlenecks, and identify strategy for continuous improvement and future investment.
  • Applies statistical analysis techniques to quantify current process capabilities.
  • Manages multiple external partners (i.e. engineering service providers, equipment vendors, etc.)
  • Completes all work in a safe manner consistent with AVANOS safety & quality protocols.
  • This role will work across all AVANOS manufacturing facilities.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related major scientific discipline from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a variety of technical and operational assignments.

ENGLISH: Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish)

  • Experience and expertise with medical device products, procedures, and processes.
  • Experience with FATs and validations (IQ,CSV,OQ,PQ) in an FDA regulated industry.
  • Experience leading capital projects.
  • Project management experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes.
  • Experience identifying, scoping, and leading improvement activities.
  • Experience with machine automation.
  • Experience working directly with outside machine manufacturers on new equipment processes and design
  • Experience with equipment design and writing equipment specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
